Hop (Humulus lupulus; family Cannabaceae) is used in brewing for its bittering flavor and floral aroma, and contains compounds of medicinal interest featuring anticancer, antimicrobial, and phytoestrogen properties.

The diploid, dioecious hop genome has resisted assembly due to size (2.7Gb), widespread repetition, and heterozygosity. Advances in long read sequencing have expanded the potential for resolving long repeats and regions of high heterozygosity. Both haplotypes of the cultivar Cascade genome were assembled with FALCON/FALCON-Unzip using PacBio long reads. Presented here for browsing and download is the primary contig assembly (3.71Gb), representing a single haplotype.
